Privacy Policy

PlaceUp (“we”, “us”) operates a consignment marketplace that places products from independent brands on shelves in local stores, with in-store purchases completed by scanning a QR code. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, and the choices you have. It applies to app.placeup.ai and related PlaceUp services.

Information we collect

Account information. When a brand or store owner creates an account we collect a name, email address and password (handled by our authentication provider), and business profile details you choose to add — such as brand descriptions, product listings, prices, photos, store addresses and return addresses.

Purchase information. When a shopper buys a product through a PlaceUp QR checkout we collect the order details (product, quantity, price, store) and the name, email and phone number shared by your payment wallet or entered at checkout — used to send your receipt, proof of purchase and return options. Payments are processed by Stripe; we never see or store full card numbers.

Returns. If you start a return we collect the reason you provide and any photo you choose to upload, and share them with the brand that owns the product so it can decide on your request.

Device & usage. We use a first-party anonymous identifier (a cookie named pu_aid) to measure the scan → pay funnel and recognise repeat shoppers. We also collect standard log data (IP address, browser type, pages viewed). The in-page camera is used only to read QR codes on your device — camera frames are never uploaded or stored.

How we use information

To operate the marketplace: process orders and payouts, send receipts and order emails, route return requests to brands, prevent fraud and theft (e.g. single-use purchase proofs), support founding-partner programs, and improve the product. We do not sell your personal information.

How we share information

With the parties to your transaction (the brand and the store see order details relevant to them); with service providers that run our infrastructure — Stripe (payments and payouts), Supabase (database, authentication and file storage), Vercel (hosting) and Resend (transactional email); and where required by law. Service providers may process data outside your country.

Data retention

Order and payout records are kept as long as needed for accounting, tax and dispute purposes. Account data is kept while your account is active; you can ask us to delete it (see “Your rights”).

Your rights

You may request access to, correction of, or deletion of your personal information, and you may object to or restrict certain processing. To exercise any of these rights, email support@placeup.ai. We respond within 30 days.

Cookies

We use strictly necessary cookies for sign-in sessions and the anonymous funnel identifier described above. We do not use third-party advertising cookies.

Children

PlaceUp is not directed to children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their data.

Changes

We will post any changes to this policy here and update the effective date. Material changes will be announced by email to account holders.
